After performing in over a hundred comedic roles, Kannada actor Mithra expresses his desire to redefine himself. The actor feels that he has been stereotyped as a comedian due to his skin color and physical appearance. While he enjoyed entertaining audiences, he has always wanted to break free from this stereotype. He notes that in contemporary cinema, lead actors are often required to incorporate comedic elements, limiting opportunities for dedicated comedians. In order to explore his acting range, Mithra has decided to pursue different and diverse roles that move away from comedy. He has taken on roles in films such as Karavali, Ella Kunni, Max, and an upcoming project by Vijay Kumar.

Mithra states, “I feel that I have outgrown comic roles. In Karavali, I play the character of Mahabala, a buffalo owner, while my role in Ella Kunni involves some shades of grey. At this stage of my career, I prioritize artistic satisfaction over commercial success. I have reached a point where comedic roles no longer resonate with me, and I seek roles that connect with my inner self.”

Regarding the changing landscape of cinema, Mithra observes that modern scripts are offering more balanced and nuanced roles. He acknowledges the positive shift in the industry, where content-driven cinema and the emergence of OTT platforms present diverse opportunities. He emphasizes the importance of audiences supporting creative filmmaking by choosing to watch movies in theaters.

Mithra also shares his views on television content, advocating for stricter censorship. Having been part of various reality shows, he highlights that many programs, especially comedies, heavily rely on double entendres that could convey harmful messages to society. Furthermore, he notes a lack of strong moral values in television serials, which are watched by viewers of all ages. Mithra believes that some form of regulation is necessary in this domain.
